Its interesting to think about the difference between collector cards with established brands and products behind them vs web 3 nfts which are just beginning to establish what their brand means and how the collectibility and the provenance is being established
The NFT market (web 3) is really like placing a bet on a rookie player and funding his development - you have little information - may not even know what position they will play for or if there will be success
Add to that the people pay to mint these web 3 native NFTs to fund development of the projects vs trading cards having developed markets and history not needing to be funded by the collectors for the brand survive
The interesting thing about buying a players card is you are involved in a subset of a sport and a subset of that team - you become invested in that player, their past their future and how that evolves
Compared to web 3 native nfts - you are buying a fixed trait, fixed supply - the variable is how the project evolves over time
The value in web 3 NFTs is really the compund effect of the network of people that collect them
As that network becomes more valuable so does the people that own them and want to own them
What access does ownership into a digital club give you - the IRL stuff becomes a big one for networking - but for the other 360 days a year the networking is done in group chats - if those are open to non holders than have you created any value in club scarcity
The reveal is also something that the NFT space has then loses as you only get it once - the projects that work out how to build in those mechanisms ongoing in a way that doesnt dilute brand value but grow it and grow the collector experience will win

For BAYC @BoredApeYC under @mfigge, I think three most important (hard to get all 3)
- rarity
- aesthetically pleasing (color/style match)
- 4T minimalism
One way to get all 3 is to choose grail skin 4T (only 14 of them in top 5 rarest skins), then choose nice eye and mouth combo, BG also blend well. If there is a character/aura, even better.
I found it and it’s my DM4T.
Today is also an important day of 5 year anniversary of the alpha, very first pack on chain in #PaniniBlockchain ecosystem.
Today is also one of most seminal releases, World Cup Prizm BC FOTL, the perfectly configured + timed and hugely EV+ PBC pack drop.

theres a clean lesson in here that has nothing to do with MEV specifically
the people most confident in their own sophistication are often the easiest targets, because confidence becomes a blind spot. approving anything without reading it is approving anything without reading it - doesn’t matter how many millions you’ve made doing it before
