Opposing BIP110, preserving Bitcoin decentralization

Wu says it is learned that Blockstream co‑founder and Hashcash inventor Adam Back, together with Strategy founder Michael Saylor, posted an article opposing the implementation of BIP 110 on the Bitcoin network. Adam Back stated that BIP 110 attempts to regulate other people's transactions, contradicting Bitcoin's decentralization and permissionless principles; forcing it forward would only cause a fork. Michael Saylor pointed out that BIP 110 escalates spam disputes into a consensus change, invalidating some effective transactions that have paid fees. He believes this precedent is extremely dangerous, and the community should focus its energy on more core threats.

If the tension in the Strait of Hormuz escalates, it could spark a liquidity crisis, impacting risk assets such as Bitcoin.

The Strait of Hormuz is back in focus.

Reports say Iran has fired warning shots at a vessel and is attempting to shut down one of the world's most important shipping routes.

Around 20% of global oil moves through Hormuz.

If this escalates...

It won't just be an oil story.

It'll quickly become a liquidity story for every risk asset, including Bitcoin.

About Bridged BTC (NEAR Intents)

Bitcoin (BTC) is a digital asset and a payment system invented by Satoshi Nakamoto who published a related paper in 2008 and released it as open-source software in 2009. The system featured as peer-to-peer; users can transact directly without an intermediary. Transactions are verified by network nodes and recorded in a public distributed ledger called the blockchain. The ledger uses bitcoin as its unit of account. The system works without a central repository or single administrator, which has led the U.S. Treasury to categorize bitcoin as a decentralized virtual currency. Bitcoin is often called the first cryptocurrency, although prior systems existed. Bitcoin is more correctly described as the first decentralized digital currency. It is the largest of its kind in terms of total market value by now.
