Strategy co-founder Michael Saylor opposes efforts to limit the use of non-financial data on the Bitcoin network.
In a post on X on July 21, Saylor wrote that attempts to change Bitcoin’s rules because others use the network in ways some people dislike are statist and run counter to a community rooted in liberty, property rights, free markets, natural law and Austrian economics.
He also called BIP-110 an effort to enforce monetary purity by decree.
BIP-110 is a proposal to restrict non-financial data on the Bitcoin network. The proposal has stirred debate over whether data-storage methods such as Ordinals fit Bitcoin’s original purpose.
Saylor’s remarks highlighted his view that use of the Bitcoin network should not be restricted in a specific direction.
