It may have temporarily disrupted a major piece of the country's crypto infrastructure.
India blocked Telegram until June 22 ahead of the NEET re-exam after a paper leak scandal impacted 2.27M students.
Telegram's edit feature was also disabled until June 30.
Telegram founder @durov fired back, saying the ban punishes 150M+ users while bad actors simply move to other apps.
Then things got even bigger.
Durov accused @reliancegroup of disrupting Telegram access outside India through alleged BGP hijacking and hinted at a possible competitive battle involving @WhatsApp.
These allegations remain unverified.
He also claimed Reliance is partially owned by @Meta.
But Meta owns a minority stake in Jio Platforms... Reliance controls Jio, not the other way around.
