So tell me you don't understand $VVV @AskVenice without telling me you don't understand.... *winner* @MikeIppolito_ your argument has zero worth here you are using projects from years ago that don't correlate to how things are building today. What everyone else did was pull away and make foundations to do equity plays but now there is the chance to do them both together and instead of celebrating it you just want to diminish it from things that failed or didn't go right in the past. I would love to have a deeper talk with you about anytime. But in the mean time i would suggest using the word "AND", tokens AND equity.

wrt to $VVV, Erik is essentially saying the token equity split will work this time because equity holders have a bunch of tokens. unfortunately this has been equally true in all the past attempts at making this work The terminal value of the token is zero regardless of the business because you don’t own the actual business. You own onchain slop in the form of an ERC20

The tweet claims that the terminal value of the VVV token is zero because it does not represent actual business ownership and token holders lack protection.

Great rundown on VVV’s raise today. Kinda necessary. Much better than the usual “sell to VC’s first undisclosed allo and dump your head” model. Bullish imho. Especially bullish for the proper moonshot scenarios, where we are competing with tardfi giants, not crypto shitters.

The VVV token is considered to have a terminal value of zero, due to its lack of ownership and legal protection, and its burn mechanism is self‑serving.

Not sure why people are bullish on the $VVV raise, it means a lot of value from the token will flow to the equity side rather than the token Bootstrap through token -> heavily subside -> funnel part of that money into equity

At best you now have 2 parties you need to satisfy, Venice is basically a multi billion dollar project now at worst you get fully rinsed and equity holders eat the cake

Venice raises $65M series A at $1B valuation But what's buried is why the base:0xacfe6019ed1a7dc6f7b508c02d1b04ec88cc21bf token is up 12% Erik confirms that the capital is to be used to scale the protocol including greater burns Bullish: Value is explicitly stated to accrue to both token & equity holders

Venice raised $65 million in funding, VVV token benefits from protocol expansion and burn, author is explicitly bullish on its value.

The $VVV debate might be the first thing CT has collectively agreed on in months Equity/token splits are a relic of the past. They create misaligned incentives and unclear value accrual You’re either a traditional company or a token company There is no in between

To my knowledge, this is only the 2nd time in this space that a token has preceded a VC raise. This is the next evolution of crypto. 1) A token first model will be new normal, 2) almost everything which can’t raise after a token launch will die.

We wanted to do the opposite of most other projects: while most pre-sell to VCs on undisclosed terms and promise to build a product or find users later, Venice didn’t pre-sell to anyone and had already demonstrated product-market fit for a year by the time VVV was airdropped to the community. The token traded openly for 18 months before Venice brought in outside capital. The participants in Venice’s Series A agreed to these terms because they are aligned with Venice’s long term vision.

VVV adopts a token-first, financing-later model, seen as the new normal, with an optimistic outlook.

"We don't want to sell the token" More like "VCs want to buy equity" You can turn this however you want, and I don't doubt that SOME value will accrue to the token, but there is just an inescapable conflict between equity and token as long as both exist
