Ethereum Name Service (ENS)

ENS has $160M market cap.

That's less than the value of all the houses in my HOA.

Move on and think bigger, guys.

Saying "we never sold" doesn’t really excuse the fact that using a token to leverage the community to help boost your brand and product will come back to haunt you when you broke your promise to them.

* ENS launch a DAO in 2021 and introduced a token. They gained resources, attention, and recognition by claiming that everything was under DAO control.

* They earned their reputation as a "legitimate" name service by establishing a council and having a diverse range of delegates serving the DAO.
* They attracted builders to ENS thanks to grants, which were based on the notion that "this token controls the treasury."

So, just because "DAO" no longer sounds cool and get you anything you need, you're labeling those who supported you in the past and are voicing their concerns about the proposals on behalf of other ENS holders, as "spreading misinformation".

I've been on the project side of things, and I've never really been a fan of airdrops and tokens. so I do strongly agree with tons of the "why DAO does

Make all the criticism you want of ENS Labs, the DAO or its current state.

But respect ENS. Honestly, one of the best things my wallet can do is to sign an IPFS content hash into and have a website published.

$5 for 1y of domain is so cheap, and there is so much stuff that it can do that your .xyz is embarrassed to be compared.

ENS is open, public digital infrastructure. Right now the discussion is how much do we value the guarantees that it stays so.

There is no real part of this discussion on whether it’s valuable. That’s a given, and that’s why it’s worth the fight for keeping it open.
