Nine months ago someone stole $44 MILLION from UXLINK. They still haven't figured out how to spend it.
Back in September the attacker found a flaw in UXLINK's multi-sig wallet, handed themselves admin access and minted unlimited tokens before walking off with $44 MILLION.
Instead of laundering it fast and vanishing like anyone competent would, they did something genuinely stupid. They started day trading the stolen money.
Arkham counted over 600 trades. Buying dips, holding through drops, panic selling at breakeven.
At one point this person was down $4 MILLION on money they got for free.
Think about that. You steal a fortune, and then lose MILLIONS of it trying to be a trader, with funds that cost you nothing to begin with.
Nine months and hundreds of trades later, they're sitting almost exactly where they started. A chunk of the money is frozen. Every wallet they touch gets tracked across 50-plus addresses.
And today they're still at it, pushing another $6.5 MILLION through Tornado Cash, the same slow drip they've run for the better part of a year, washing money that refuses to come clean.
They pulled off the part that was supposed to be impossible and fumbled the part that was supposed to be easy.
The theft took a day. Nine months later they still can't turn it into a single clean dollar.
