Nillion (NIL)

my first @nillion writeup was on the cryptography, the tech, and the team. this one’s on the part that actually drives the token: what it’s for, how $NIL captures value as usage scales, and the tokenomics catalyst ahead.

highlights:

• it’s useful, and it’s being used — private AI/compute on data that stays encrypted the whole time. NilGPT (112k+ users), plus DT, Vodafone, Alibaba running real nodes

• NIL is now required to use it — since april, every path into the network routes through the token (compute credits, 70k-NIL node stake, settlement)

• moved to an eth l2 — fixed the old “token does nothing” problem; NIL is now inseparable from the network, with a cracked infra CEO (ex-algorand/cardano) running the era

• the catalyst — tokenomics redesign is coming. still net-inflationary today with no verified burn; a real usage‑driven burn would flip the math entirely

• the gap — ~$32m mcap against a ~$150m treasury, patented crypto, MiCA‑compliant, tier‑1 customers. usage model only weeks old and barely priced in

still risks — unlocks ongoing, burn not shipped yet, execution. but rarely see this much built priced this low.
