Quantstamp: Humanity Hack That Moved 141M H Shows Signs of North Korean Hackers Humanity Protocol released Quantstamp’s investigation into the June 8 H token security incident. According to the report, attackers gained remote access to a director’s device through a phishing attack, copied wallet data and private keys, then upgraded the Ethereum H token contract and moved approximately 141.18 million H tokens. On BNB Smart Chain, the attackers also took control of a ProxyAdmin contract and minted additional H. Quantstamp said the tooling and certificate-signing patterns observed in the attack are characteristic of DPRK-linked intrusions.

Wu reported that Humanity Protocol released the investigation results of security audit firm Quantstamp on the H token security incident on June 8. The report shows that the attacker obtained remote control of a device by conducting a phishing attack targeting a Humanity director, and stole wallet data and private keys. The attacker then used the stolen privileges to upgrade the H token contract on Ethereum to a malicious version and transferred about 1.4118 × 10⁸ H; at the same time, on BNB Smart Chain, the attacker controlled the ProxyAdmin contract and minted new H. The attacker then continuously sold the token on Uniswap and PancakeSwap for about 8 hours, causing the price to drop sharply. Quantstamp stated that the attack tools and certificate signing patterns exhibit characteristics of North Korean‑linked hacker groups. Currently, the H contract on Ethereum has been frozen, and the official cross‑chain bridge is unaffected; however, the BSC deployment has been permanently controlled.
