Does anyone know the name of the protocol where you have hardware security but store private keys on GitHub? lmao.

Nah, but in all seriousness, this situation is sad because, yet again, this is another example of a trust model failing in crypto.

The attacker didn't pull off some insane technical exploit, and they just found the leaked signing key and used it to make their fake prover look trusted.

Then the bridge accepted it.

And this is a bigger problem for crypto as a whole because too many recent hacks come back to trust assumptions.

A lot of these protocols market themselves as trustless, but there are still hidden trust points under the hood: private keys, trusted signers, multisigs, etc...

IMO, more systems need to start asking whether the proof verifies itself onchain.
